Special Jug Issued On The Occasion Of The Birth Of Princess Beatrix
French .950 Silver Pedestal Bowl/Tazza by Louis Goignet – Late 19th Century
These impressive bronze bracelet date back to the early 20th century, in good condition, with a strong design featuring a maximum diameter of 9.6 cm and an inner diameter of 6.8 cm, weighing an astonishing 600 grams a piece. Crafted with strength, but also with purpose, these bracelets were not meant for just wearing; instead traditionally used by the Gurma people, an ethnic group from northeastern Ghana through Burkina Faso and surrounding areas, they were believed to have medicinal properties, especially against rheumatism and arthritis. This pair represents a part of cultural heritage and a link back to medical practices of old; it shows a cross-section of art, tradition, and wellness in the Gurma community.
Can be bought separately as well for $105 a piece.
